Continuing in their<br /> tradition of strong guest speakers, this<br /> year included Thierry Coquelet, Court<br /> Jones, Paul Moyse and Jason Seiler.<br /> Last year’s speakers included: Jan Op<br /> De Beeck, Nate Kapnicky, Jean Mulatier,<br /> Sebastian Krűger, and Jason Seiler. The<br /> guest speakers shared wisdom during<br /> their presentations and also spent the<br /> week creating in the art room with all the<br /> attending artists.<br /> Eurocature takes place in the historically<br /> artistic city of Vienna, Austria, where one<br /> is surrounded by not only beautiful architecture,<br /> but also with many museums<br /> housing some of the most famous art in<br /> the world. It is hard not to be completely<br /> inspired by all the creativity that surrounds<br /> you.<br /> Eurocature is held in the beautiful<br /> Regina Hotel, in the center of Vienna.<br /> The week begins with an icebreaker<br /> party, where everyone meets at a<br /> nearby venue for drinks, food, and<br /> conversation. The next morning, the<br /> real fun begins when the theme for the<br /> caricature drawings is announced and<br /> guests begin creating in the art room.<br /> This year, guests could choose from two<br /> themes: World War 1 or Tolerance.<br /> Presentations by the guest speakers took<br /> place in the art room, which fueled the<br /> creativity in the room during the week.<br /> At the end of the week, once all the<br /> final art pieces are created, the famous<br /> Karikatur Museum Krems, a museum<br /> dedicated to the art form of caricature<br /> and cartoon, hosts the artists for a private<br /> tour. After the tour, the finale of the<br /> week is an art exhibit in a Vienna gallery<br /> showcasing all the artists’ work together.<br /> This year it was hosted at the Galerie<br /> Augustin. The gallery exhibit is widely<br /> publicized locally, and many important<br /> people in the community attend, including<br /> the local media and even a 5-minute<br /> report on national TV. It is a very fun night<br /> for the artists to celebrate together, and is<br /> followed by a nice dinner where awards<br /> are given in the following genres: Best<br /> Studio Piece, Best Exaggeration, Best<br /> Traditional Piece, and Best Digital Piece.<br /> There is much care and time put into the<br /> planning of Eurocature by Bernd Ertl and<br /> his staff.
