Now is the time to VOTE for the 2019-2020 Board of Directors!
This year we have ten nominees. Their nomination speeches are
shown in alphabetical order and cover four pages, so make sure to
review them all before making your decisions. The ballot can be found inserted
in this issue and can be mailed or brought to the convention. Mailed ballots
must arrive by November 13, 2019. Good luck to all of our nominees!

It’s been a great first year on the ISCA board! I’m excited to be a part of bringing you all a convention to remember! New award categories, prolific guest speakers, and exciting workshops. Lots of good changes to make the convention more rewarding and fun. I’m excited to continue being part of a fantastic group of passionate people who love the organization and want to see it grow and flourish.

ISCA has changed my life. Starting out in caricature back in 2000, I could never dream that one day I’d be meeting and drawing with my heroes and having a chance to attend seminars with legends and compete against the best in the world! The conventions are truly life changing, and the community is a great source of encouragement and growth! The conventions have offered me an opportunity to test my skills against fellow artists and I have been privileged to win many awards, including a Silver and Gold Nosey, which opened up the way for me to create The Ultimate Guide to Modern Live Caricature. I know what the conventions have meant to me, hence I hope to continue serving the caricature community and keep bringing you all inspiring guest speakers and seminars for years to come!

Hello fellow caricature enthusiasts, <br/>
My name is Ben Bloss and I am running for a second term on the ISCA board of directors. I have been doing caricatures professionally for the past 15 years and have been a member of this fine organization for 12 years and counting. I’ve worked in several theme parks, busked in downtown areas, and traveled these United States working the fair circuit. Being a caricature artist is the best version of me.

cannot say enough to express how much I love this art form, and it blows me away to know that there are so many talented people around the world who are just as ecstatic about silly faces as I am. That being said, I’d like to be one of the lucky people tasked with fueling the fire that keeps the engines of this ever-growing community going. I only wish to continue to share my passion and work hard alongside of all of you to be the best caricature artists we can be. Thank you again for considering me for re-election.

		+	Hi, ISCA family! Tommytoons here! I am humbled to have been nominated to be a Board Member. I have been doing Caricatures for over 30 years. I will always be a Caricature Artist and an artist of all types of art. I’m originally from Arizona and came to California in 1988 to live a dream. I did caricatures in Venice Beach on weekends and eventually started working for talent agencies for events. I studied at Pasadena Art Center and met other Caricature Artists there and studied under one of Disneyland’s original caricature artists. It’s been a natural progression throughout the years, and I’m grateful for the opportunities I’ve been given in the process of developing, creating, and growing in this art form I hold dear to my heart.

My priorities going into the next year include offering more to members who volunteer their time to the organization, focusing on more interactive workshops at the convention, and expanding the scope of the ISCA Hall of Fame. 		+	I greatly appreciate the nomination for the position of board member for our organization. Prior to my foray into caricature, I was an animator, a public school educator for over 15 years, a founder of an art school, and an executive director of a nonprofit organization. I am currently the business co-owner of The Caricature Entertainment. I would like to use the skills gained during my time in education and the nonprofit sector to help ISCA reach its mission objectives. Some of my personal achievements in my professional capacity that I can share with the board are as follows: Goal-setting and strategic planning skills, value as a strategic adviser, ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary group, industry expertise, financial acumen, demonstrated problem-solving abilities, fundraising abilities, public/community relations and experience as a spokesperson. I am confident that these qualities, together with my commitment to work, will be beneficial to growing this organization’s valuable assets for the artists and the community it serves. 		+	Hello, ISCA! Like many of you, my roots in caricature began with drawing at amusement parks and fairs across the country then transitioned into gigs and studio work. Literally for over half my life, the art form of caricature has continued to challenge me, inspire me and bring me great joy. Since 2006, I’ve been a member and advocate of ISCA and have had the privilege of feeling like part of one big family. I am in awe of your skills and creativity on a daily basis.

		+	In addition to my love for caricature, I am an artist and educator who wears many hats. My roles as a business partner, a public artist, a collaborator, a fabricator and designer, an instructor and technician have given me years of experience managing large projects that involve diverse personalities, rigid timelines, complicated logistics and detailed budgets. 		+	annual convention.

		+	Together, ISCA’s members have built
		+	amazing achievements and have set the
		+	organization up for many future successes.
		+	So I ask you: How do we define success
		+	for the organization? What are our goals?
		+	What can we do besides the convention
		+	that lets the world know we are here?
		+	How does ISCA help YOU live up to YOUR
		+	potential, both creatively and professionally?
		+	These questions are not rhetorical.
		+	The answers give us information on how
		+	we constantly improve the value of your
		+	membership.

		+	I believe ISCA can become a resource
		+	that no caricaturist can afford to NOT be
		+	a member of. I have many ideas to bring
		+	to the table, plus the time and experience

		+	things. I’ve been in caricature for over two

		+	deeply about ISCA and its members and

		+	the ISCA Members Facebook Contest. I
