This template tags an article for [[Wikipedia:Basic copyediting|copy edit]]ing and should be added at the top of the article page.</p>

This template will auto-categorize tagged articles into [[:Category:Wikipedia articles needing copy edit]], and the subsequent bot edit will place it in a dated subcategory thereof.

* This template takes an optional parameter that replaces the word "article" in the displayed message with arbitrary text. For example, {{tnull|Copy edit|section}} displays "This section needs [[Wikipedia:Basic copyediting|copy editing]]."
* This template takes the optional parameter {{para|for}} (a.k.a. {{para|reason}}) which can be used to explain what issues need to be addressed, e.g. {{para|for|consistent spelling}}. The default value is "grammar, style, cohesion, tone, or spelling".
