ISCA Minicon Seoul 2013 Recap
Article Transcript
The 2013 Asia Caricature Convention in Seoul was hosted at the Seoul Human Resource Development Center by ISCA KOREA from the July 8th(Mon) to July 12th(Fri). It was the second international caricature ISCA minicon in Korea and about 100 people participated in the convention as artists and staff. Accommodations and meals were fully supported by the Seoul Metropolitan Government. The convention was like a festival. It also had great performances such as Taekwondo and tap dancing.
The Global Caricature Exhibition was exhibited in Sejong Museum, which is located in the center of Seoul. The Exhibition was curated by artist Yonie Woo, hosted by CDG corporation, and exhibited about 213 artworks from 16 different countries. Admission tickets were also supported for all the convention participants. A variety of prizes were given for the winners of the speed competition, likeness competition, blind competition, and the Seoul sketch tour competition during the convention. The Seoul sketch tour was a special event for the convention that was fully supported by Seoul Metropolitan Government. Artists went to famous tourist spots in Seoul and sketched the landscapes or people who live and work there.
The “Asia Caricature Convention” was such a great experience for caricature artists for four nights and five days.
There were also special seminars during the convention. Belgian artist Jan Op De Beeck, Japanese artist Tomokazu Tabata, American artist Marcus Sakoda, and French artist Anthony Geoffroy were invited as seminar artists. They showed high-quality digital and traditional caricatures to the participants. Also many staff and volunteers made the convention more comfortable and enjoyable by helping people as interpreters, workers, or even just friends.
