ISCA President Nolan Harris by Nolan Harris

Hey everybody! I hope all of you are happily recovering from a fruitful holiday gig/ retail season. I just managed to have an entire night of sleep without subconsciously hearing holiday music, so that’s a step in the right direction! As this is my first installment of Letter from the Prez, it brings me great pleasure to share all of the new and exciting changes our new board have been working on over the past 2 months. Our goal has always been to increase the overall value of our brand and I think we are headed in the right direction with the addition of our new YouTube channel, which features convention footage, tutorials and exclusive videos that can only be found on the channel! We have also created a brand spankin’ new Facebook Contest Group, which is now taking place bi-weekly! Big thanks go out to our Secretary Chris Moore for managing the FB contest. So far it is off to a great start! We have also added a Monthly Facebook Workshop Group with Euan Mactavish. This workshop is a great way to hone your caricature craft through critique and focused observation. Thanks for making this happen, Euan! On the same note, if you are NOT able to access these groups, please email me at iscaprez@gmail. com and I will get you set up. I have also been working on a bi-monthly caricature podcast called the Iscast. Every two weeks I will be posting interviews with our fellow caricature artists, which can be accessed every other Tuesday on the music-streaming website Sound- Cloud. In addition, I will be posting announcements and answering member questions regularly during the Iscast. Since we are only able to post new episodes every other week, our talented friend Ali Thome will fill in the gaps by releasing her amazing podcast called “It’s Supposed to be Funny” every other Tuesday . You can check out her podcast on iTunes or at www.itssupposedtobefunny.com. Ever since I joined the board in 2013, my goal was to help transform and evolve ISCA for the 21st century and beyond. With the help of our friend, Beau Hufford, we are one step closer with our NEW LOGO! Beau has designed a beautiful logo that can be modified to represent countries all over the globe. Not only do we have a new look, but we also have a new message, “A World Drawn Together.” All of our promotional and marketing material will feature this new tag-line in hopes of reaching a broader, world-wide audience. The changes don’t end with a new logo and message. We are also giving our quarterly newsletter a digital face lift! Starting next issue, the EF will be presented four times a year as an Interactive Digital Magazine! The Spring Issue and the Fall Issue will each be DIGITAL ONLY and will feature interactive content (videos and tutorials) in beautiful and crisp high-resolution. You’ll never misplace or lose an issue ever again! The Pre and Post Convention issues will STILL be printed but will now include more pages and will also be available in the interactive digital format. Between the magazine, the Facebook Groups, the podcast and ALL of the social media sites, ISCA members now have enough content to keep them busy for weeks! Before I wrap things up, I would like to let all of you know that our amazing manager Tracey Iverson will be passing the torch to someone new this year. Tracey has been such an amazing member of our crazy family. She has been an incredible asset to our organization by managing our finances, taxes, memberships, and of course the convention. Let’s all raise a glass to Tracey and wish her the best of luck with her future endeavors. THANK YOU, TRACEY!!! With that being said, we need a new manager! This is a part-time paid position that requires administrative experience. If any of you know someone who could potentially fill the void, please email Tracey at iscamanager@gmail.com and she will send you a detailed job description. Well, that’s all I’ve got for now. Thanks to all of you for being a part of this amazing organization. We could not do any of this without you! Cheers,
