The 13th edition of the 1001 Visages de la Caricature Festival will be held on October 6, 7 and 8 this year in the town of Val-David, Quebec, Canada, headlining will be several well-known Canadian cartoonists, such as Bado, cartoonist for the Ottawa daily Le Droit (and Canada’s unofficial ambassador of humor,) Garnotte of Montreal’s daily Le Devoir, Ygreck from Le Journal de Quebec et de Montréal, as well as others who can be found on the 1001visages.com website.

This year’s Guest of Honor is Yannick Lemay, better known by his alias “Ygreck,” a prolific and multidisciplinary artist interviewed many times on radio and television over the last fifteen years. Currently, in addition to his editorial work, he creates impressive pyrography prints and fills his sketchbooks with beautiful illustrations The public will have the opportunity to meet him and learn more about his work.
Christian Vachon, Head of Collections Management and Curatorial (Paintings, Prints and Drawings) at the McCord Museum, will give a lecture on the artists to be exhibited. He will also present a caricature exhibition titled “Chapleau and the Great Masters of Painting (Parodies of the Works” of David, Géricault, etc.). As is the custom every year, live caricatures will highlight the event every day. Highly talented cartoonists such as Wes Tyrell, Robert Lafontaine, Yves Demers, Madame Croquis, Pierre Drysdale, Tiffani Trogi, David Chavez, Gag, Martin Bouchard and others will be there to cheer on anyone who wants to be drawn. This three-day exhibition also features the work of Bruce MacKinnon, official cartoonist for the Halifax daily The Chronicle Herald since 1986, and Marc Pageau, cartoonist for the Quebec’s former humor magazine Safarir.
Local musicians and entertainers will perform on stage throughout, creating the unique atmosphere that defines all 1001 Visages Festivals. The magic of a live music concert complements the caricature exhibition perfectly and unifies the activities.
